Local Football Team Celebrates Successful Year with Banquet
The Duxbury High School football team recently celebrated a successful year with a banquet honoring players and coaches for their hard work and dedication throughout the season. The event, held at a local banquet hall, brought together team members, coaches, and families to reflect on the highlights of the past year and look ahead to the future.

During the banquet, several players were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the team. Brett Barr received the Special Teams MVP award, presented by Coach Eisner. James Scanlon was named Defensive MVP, with Coach Kaufman by his side. Offensive MVP honors went to Trevor Jones, who was congratulated by Coach Woodruff. The prestigious Dick Lippard Team MVP award was given to Jack Rees, with both Coach Kaufman and Coach Woodruff in attendance. Additionally, Owen Huie received the Lt. Timothy J. Steele Award, presented by Coach Landolfi.
Passing the Torch
As the evening progressed, the 2024 team captains, Trevor Jones, Jack Rees, John Rovegno, James Scanlon, and Joseph Barberia, passed the torch to the newly appointed 2025 captains, Hank Frazier, Brady Rhinesmith, Jake Falls, Gavin Hammo. This symbolic gesture marked the transition of leadership within the team and the beginning of a new chapter for the upcoming season.
Looking Towards the Future
The banquet was not only a time for celebration but also a moment to reflect on the hard work and dedication that had brought the team to this point. As the players and coaches enjoyed a meal together, they shared stories, laughs, and memories from the past year. It was a time to bond as a team and strengthen the camaraderie that would carry them through the challenges ahead.
As a former high school athlete myself, I can attest to the significance of moments like these. The bonds formed on the field and in the locker room are often the ones that last a lifetime. Whether it’s celebrating a hard-fought victory or consoling each other after a tough loss, these experiences shape us as individuals and as teammates.
So, as the Duxbury High School football team looks towards the future, may they carry the lessons learned and the memories made with them. And may they continue to represent their school and community with pride, determination, and sportsmanship on and off the field.
