Tragic Loss Strikes Williams College Community
Alex Kemp, a 19-year-old first-year student at Williams College, tragically lost his life in a ski accident at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Hancock, Massachusetts. The incident, which occurred on Monday, resulted in severe head trauma for Kemp as he went over an embankment while skiing along Cutter Trail.
Immediate Response and Transfer to Medical Center
Upon receiving a 911 call at approximately 2:39 p.m., the Jiminy Peak Ski Patrol quickly responded to the scene. Northern Berkshire EMS workers arrived shortly after and promptly transported Kemp to Berkshire Medical Center. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Baystate Medical Center, where he unfortunately passed away.

In the wake of this tragic event, the Williams College community has come together to honor Kemp’s memory. Statements from his professors and cross country coach, Dusty Lopez, highlight Kemp’s positive and kind demeanor, both on and off the track.
Lopez, who recruited Kemp from Christian Brothers Academy in New Jersey, spoke highly of the young athlete’s character and spirit. Kemp’s academic achievements and athletic successes were noted by those who knew him best.
