Cisco Brewers Expands to Boston Behind Fenway Park
Red Sox fans in Boston have something new to look forward to this summer—a potential hotspot for pre- and post-game brewskis. Cisco Brewers, known for its beer gardens in Nantucket, the Seaport, and New Bedford, is planning to venture into a new location behind Fenway Park. This move marks an exciting expansion for the brewery and a promising addition to the bustling city scene.
The brewery recently secured zoning approval to set up shop on Boylston Street, just a stone’s throw away from the iconic Fenway Park. The new site, formerly occupied by Tasty Burger until 2022 and later by Our Fathers Deli, will now be transformed into an indoor beer hall and an outdoor beer garden. These spaces are set to cater to both locals and visitors, offering a vibrant setting for beer enthusiasts to gather and enjoy a variety of brews.
Cisco Brewers envisions running a year-round restaurant along with a seasonal beer garden that will operate from April to October. The establishment will not only serve up refreshing drinks but also offer live entertainment to create an engaging and lively atmosphere. This blend of food, drinks, and entertainment is poised to make the brewery a go-to destination in the area.
The brewery’s plan received approval from Boston’s Zoning Board of Appeal during a meeting on February 25. However, before the project can move forward, it still needs to be given the green light by the Boston Licensing Board. Cisco’s attorney, Dennis Quilty, expressed optimism about the project’s prospects during the meeting, highlighting the brewery’s commitment to operating in a safe and responsible manner.
Despite the positive reception, some local residents raised concerns about potential noise disturbances. Maura Zlody, a resident living nearby on Jersey Street, voiced her worries about the impact of noise on the neighborhood. Quilty assured attendees that live entertainment would conclude by 8 p.m., and measures would be in place to minimize noise disruptions for residents.
Quilty emphasized that the location has a history of serving as a restaurant and entertainment spot, and Cisco Brewers is committed to maintaining a harmonious relationship with the community. The brewery aims to operate in a manner that respects the neighborhood while providing a welcoming space for patrons to enjoy quality beers and entertainment.
Notably, the vicinity already hosts a taproom and outdoor beer garden managed by Trillium Brewers on Park Drive, adding to the vibrant beer scene in the area. Cisco Brewers, established in 1995, offers a diverse selection of beers in cans and currently operates seasonal beer gardens in the Seaport and New Bedford, in addition to its flagship location in Nantucket.
With a rich history and a reputation for quality brews, Cisco Brewers’ expansion to Boston signifies an exciting chapter for beer enthusiasts and locals alike. As the brewery gears up to open its doors behind Fenway Park, it promises to bring a unique blend of flavors, entertainment, and community spirit to the heart of the city. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting development in Boston’s vibrant beer culture.
