Newly-Graduated Journalist:
So, like, there was this big court thing happening, right? Judge Beverly Cannone was all like, “Yeah, let’s let the prosecution expert reference the report.” The defense team wasn’t too happy about it, but hey, what can you do, right?
Okay, so this forensic scientist named Ashley Vaillier from the Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab was testifying on Friday. She was talking about finding these tiny plastic pieces in the debris from John O’Keefe’s clothes. Like, she was trying to put together these broken pieces to see if they matched Karen Read’s taillight. And guess what? They did!
But then, the defense attorney was all like, “Hey, there’s a missing piece in this reconstruction.” And Vaillier was like, “Yeah, I never got the missing piece.” And then they started talking about chain of custody and all that jazz.
And then there was this whole drama about a new report from the prosecution expert, Shanon Burgess. The defense team was not having it. They were like, “We need time to adapt to these new findings.” But the prosecutor was all, “Nah, nothing has really changed.”
Oh, and there was some DNA stuff too. This forensic scientist named Andre Porto was talking about how O’Keefe’s DNA was all over the place. Like, on Karen Read’s taillight and some broken glass. And then the defense attorney was asking all these questions about where the DNA came from and stuff.
Overall, it was a pretty intense day in court. Can’t wait to see what happens next!
