So, like, this dude named Adam Montgomery is basically serving a loooong time in prison, like 56 years minimum, for killing his own daughter, Harmony. And get this, he even moved her dead body around for months before finally getting rid of it. Super messed up, right?
The mom, Crystal Sorey, is obviously devastated, as any parent would be. She filed a lawsuit against the state of New Hampshire, accusing social workers of totally ignoring signs that Harmony was being abused by her ex-husband. Like, seriously, how could they miss that?
The state finally agreed to pay Crystal a whopping $2.25 million in a settlement, which honestly seems like the least they could do after all this tragedy. But get this, they don’t even admit to doing anything wrong. Classic move, right? Like, come on, take some responsibility already.
In other news, the state created an Office of the Child Advocate back in 2018, but now lawmakers are thinking of axing it in the next budget. Not really sure why this matters, but I guess it’s something to keep an eye on.
