A 34-year-old dude from Boston, Cornelius Williams, got himself in some serious trouble. He was hauled into court on Tuesday for allegedly trying to assault a woman in the North End. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office spilled the beans that Williams is facing one count of indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 and one count of assault to rape. Yikes!
The incident supposedly went down around 10:53 p.m. on May 14 when Williams tailed a woman into her apartment building on Margaret Street. Reports claim that he got handsy with her legs and even went as far as licking her toes. Talk about creepy! He then apparently tried to strip her dress off, but thankfully, the woman screamed and threatened to dial 9-1-1. That’s when Williams made a run for it like a scaredy-cat.
Video evidence caught Williams stalking the woman for several blocks before the alleged assault. The DA’s office shared that he was nabbed by the cops on Monday at 25 Staniford St. But get this, Williams had been in hot water before for a similar incident back in March. He was let loose on the condition that he steers clear of the victim and any witnesses from that case. Oh boy, this guy just can’t seem to stay out of trouble, huh?
During the court session, prosecutors spilled the beans about another incident involving Williams from 2020. According to NBC10 Boston, his defense attorney played the mental health card, claiming he suffers from auditory hallucinations. Hmm, not really sure if that’s a solid defense, but hey, gotta try everything, right? Williams was slapped with no bail and is set for a dangerousness hearing on Friday. Looks like he won’t be getting out of this mess anytime soon.
