Ten years ago, Peter Cullen found himself in the midst of a winter romance that would change his life forever. It all began in the lead-up to the historic winter storms of 2015 when Peter met Lindsey through a mutual friend at Lulu’s. Their connection was immediate, and after a memorable date that led them to “their bench” in Coolidge Corner, Peter knew he was falling head over heels for Lindsey.
Despite the geographical distance between them—Peter lived in Needham while Lindsey resided near Brighton along Commonwealth Avenue—the budding romance was not deterred. Peter, armed with a hockey stick and ice skates in the back of his car, was determined to spend as much time as possible with Lindsey, even if it meant braving the snow-covered streets of Boston.
As the snow began to pile up, Peter found himself in a sticky situation with parking tickets. His unconventional method of using parking tickets as decoys to secure marginal parking spots did not sit well with the city, resulting in over 15 tickets accumulating in his car. But Peter was undeterred, choosing to prioritize his time and resources on wooing Lindsey during what became known as the ‘snowmageddon’.
Their relationship blossomed over romantic dinners, snowy weekends spent indoors playing games and mixing drinks, and memorable getaways to places like Newport and Jay Peak in Vermont. It was during one of these snowy weekends that Lindsey asked Peter why he hadn’t officially made her his girlfriend yet, prompting a heartwarming moment that solidified their bond.
Fast forward to the present day, Peter and Lindsey are now happily married with a daughter. Reflecting on their journey together, Peter acknowledges that those parking tickets, totaling close to a thousand dollars, were a small price to pay for the love and devotion he found in Lindsey. As they prepare to celebrate their ten-year anniversary with a return trip to Newport, Peter looks forward to continuing to build a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories with his growing family.
