A Dorchester dude, Kwest Howard, 18, allegedly crashed his moped into a Boston Police officer while trying to make a run for it from a traffic stop.

So, like, this Boston guy, Kwest Howard, got himself into some hot water when he supposedly rammed his moped into a cop in Downtown Boston. The investigators spilled the tea on Thursday, saying that Howard was hit with a bunch of charges after the incident. He had his day in court at Boston Municipal Court this week, where he pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, threats to commit a crime, and disorderly conduct. The dude managed to get out after coughing up $300 in bail, according to a Boston Globe report.

The whole thing went down around 4:38 p.m. on Monday when the cops caught sight of someone cruising in the wrong direction on Washington Street on a moped. The person stopped near 367 Washington St., and that’s when the officers decided to pull them over for a little chat. When the cops approached the moped, the rider, later identified as Howard, apparently hit the gas and headed toward one of the officers on Franklin Street. The cop tried to signal for the rider to stop, but ended up getting hit by the moped, causing the officer to take a tumble and the vehicle to crash into a pole nearby. Debris was scattered all over Franklin Street as a result of the impact, according to a statement from the Boston Police. The officer who got hit didn’t suffer any injuries, thankfully.

Howard tried to make a run for it but was quickly nabbed with the help of a bystander. He supposedly put up a fight when the officers tried to cuff him, causing a bit of a scene that attracted some onlookers. “As Howard’s behavior began to draw a crowd, he made threats to shoot officers,” the Boston police said. On top of the charges he’s already facing, Howard also got hit with a bunch of citations, including failure to stop for police, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, helmet violation, improper operation of a motor vehicle, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

So, yeah, that’s the latest drama unfolding in Downtown Boston. Not really sure why this matters, but there you have it. Just another day in the city, I guess.
